You will, I hope, remember that we were invited to participate in the celebrations at Bembridge on Saturday and Sunday, 27th and 28th July. There was general enthusiasm expressed by everyone, and I hope we are all still keen to take part.
The arrangements are now being agreed, and racing will take place from 2pm on both days. The Cowes Laser sailors will also be there, along with a mixed fleet from Brook. Race Officers have been appointed by the organisers, who will also arrange a small RIB or equivalent. We shall be racing from the Duver on the North west side of the harbour, using the Harbour Office pontoons.
In addition to the radio sailing, many other things will be going on simultaneously, and I am attaching a poster to this email describing all the fun.
It will be an excellent opportunity to show RMYC off in a good light, and I would like to see us turning out in good numbers on both days. As we did when we last raced in Bembridge Harbour at the invitation of Brading Haven Yacht Club, we shall have ample time for our normal Canoe Lake racing on the Sunday morning. Assuming we have strong support for the event, an RMYC trophy will be sailed for over the two days.
Final arrangements will be made available in mid-June, and I am sure it will be an excellent opportunity to attend an open meeting without the expense of travelling to the mainland.
Let’s go for it, and help to make it a great event!Members Attending List
